    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=418" rel="nofollow">Outbound</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 7592<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 19 Mar 2016 at 6:08pm<br /><br />DO NOT TRAVEL WITH YOUR CAT IN THE TRAILER<div><br></div><div>Although your r-pod's suspension is adequate to keep your crockery from breaking (for the most part), it pales in comparison to your vehicle. &nbsp;And, although your r-pod's insulation blocks out most of the outside noise while you're stationary in a campground, its inadequate to keep out the roar of wind and road noise as you tow your trailer down the highway.</div><div><br></div><div>Your poor beast would be frightened and alone, subjected to endless noises waling around it, and constantly being tossed back and forth, bouncing off the walls of your trailer.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Your cat will pick up on your own anxieties. &nbsp;In the vehicle, you have to be relaxed and calm; everything happening around you is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. &nbsp;And let your cat move about and explore the vehicle a bit - and don't freak out if he gets under the seat or sits in your lap and strains to look out the side window.</div><div><br></div><div>In my vehicle, the dog lazes in the backseat, occasionally looking out the window. &nbsp;The cat usually lays on the seat up against my hip while I drive.</div><div><br></div><div>My best advice: *if* you want to consider bringing your cat on trips, you have to get him AND YOU used to travelling in your vehicle first. &nbsp;Start small. &nbsp;Go for a 10 minute drive 3-4 days in a row. &nbsp;Then, start extending the drive times to 30 minutes or an hour. &nbsp;Then, once you're comfortable, you'll be ready to take him on camping trips.</div><div><br></div><div>Oh, one last thing: unlike the dog, who has some understanding that I want her to empty her bladder before getting into the car, the cat does not. &nbsp;For camping, I have a small, covered litter pan (my cat likes to kick up litter, so I try to contain the shrapnel), and while we're travelling, its in the back of the SUV. &nbsp;My cat visits it at least once per car trip...</div>]]>

She's happy once we are parked -- not happy about car trip! She's travelled all over the country with me. She loves to watch nature out the window and readily&nbsp;makes herself at home. I have no problem leaving her during the day -- run the fantastic fan and leave a few windows cracked open. If it's very hot, I run the AC and don't go anywhere for very long.</div><div><br></div><div>In the Pod, I put her litter box under the queen bed (I have the 178) where the heater is. I do not use the Pod&nbsp;heater so it's not a problem. She loves to dig her way to some other country so I got the box with high sides but not the dome as I didn't want to trap bad smells. I scoop frequently and use powder. Never had a problem. Her dishes are under the table so they are not in the way.</div></div></td></tr></t></table>]]>
