It should light in 3 tries, if it does not, it will give you an error light "DSI Fault". If that happens, Turn off the switch, wait 10 seconds, turn back on. It may take a few cycles to light.<br><br>It is on a thermostat.. if the water is already warm, say because you have hookups and the electric side on, it won't light, nor will it fault. The gas thermostat is set a few degrees lower than the elec. so it uses elec when available. <br>]]>

HOWEVER, I have never been able to turn the burner on for the hot water tank. The pod had been slightly used, so the tank had been winterized by draining.
