You can get a better built camper than the pod. Not even that hard to find them actually. What you can't find is a well built 15-17 footer for near the price of a pod, for the same reason you can't find a Mercedes for Kia $$.

Airstream, Lance, CampLite, are a quick off the top of my head companies that build in this size, and are much better quality. You are looking at $30-50k, or somewhere between 3 and 5 times the money.. (we paid $12.6k for furpod, with all options except risers) But it's doable.

I don't know if FR has one on the Pod but, there is such a thing as a design patent. Example = the iconic "Coke bottle" - which happened to turn 100yrs. yesterday. A product does not even have to be an exact duplicate/copy to infringe.....only substantially similar.

Other than the name that a company slaps on a side of the RV, almost 100% of the components are utilized and are identical to what every RV Manufacturer uses in their RV. Every RV is pretty much the same component wise. The only difference is sometimes the shape of the unit and color schemes. Saw it at the RV show today. They were trying to claim that it is built better. What I noticed was not an improvement. The parts and everything looks identical to the Pod. Even the glass in the cabinets was the same.

If true (and you seem to have the scoop on such things) that IS interesting. If "W", absent an agreement, is willing to go forward with this, realizing almost certain legal challenges, they must feel that there is a strong enough market for this design to justify the legal expense and hassle.

If I am a Pod owner, I'm still happy at this indication and I'm not running for the exits. Again, sit back, relax, pop a cold one and watch the lawyers slug it out.

Again, if true, I would question the sanity and/or sobriety of their management. I just can't see them prevailing on the sales floor or the courtroom. It would be deja vu all over again (mpg).

Something like this makes good sense, as it would be a win/win for both FR and W. (Why fight each other and lose money when we can "partner up" and both make MORE money)

Personally, I interpret this a good indicator. When a stalwart of the industry (such as W) sees a healthy demand and a continued healthy demand for the product, that says something.

There is no need to run for the exits. Sit back, relax and pop a cold one. If my suspicion is correct, the Pod now has a twin sister - born of the same DNA. So are we part of a new category of TT. Not just light weight, not really tear drop, or retro. So what would you call it? How would you define it? What qualifies as part of it?

I've always thought RPod was a breed of its own, inspiring its own followers. If like to think that we are a special subset of TT. I don't want to be lumped in with all the other TT's.

Not everyone has the dough to drive a Prevost  and pull an rpod behind just because they don't want the grandkids inside the big rig.

They do look like copies. But then, I can buy a "Rolex" in Tijuana for $10. That doesn't make it authentic. I hope FR does go after them. I still like the graphics on my R-Pod better.

BTW: I've heard lots of complaints about the flying W on other forums.
