    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=4158" rel="nofollow">Northernsw</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 7207<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 26 Jan 2016 at 10:38pm<br /><br />The milepost was mentioned, it is a must have. &nbsp;It tells you what you need to know about the route.<div><br></div><div>I also like this one: &nbsp;Traveler's Guide to Alaskan Camping: Alaska and Yukon Camping With RV or Tent. &nbsp;It tells you what you need to know about where you are staying.</div><div><br></div><div>It's been many years since I've run the Alcan, I understand it has improved over the years. &nbsp;That said, the farther north you go, the more you need to watch for frost heaves and potholes. &nbsp;Also many Alaskan dirt roads can deteriorate quickly after lots of rain and traffic.</div><div><br></div><div>We beat the daylights out of a new popup before we got it hardened for Alaska roads. &nbsp;Our new R-Pod definitely travels better, but still awareness of road conditions is important. &nbsp;The Milepost will be invaluable to you for this. &nbsp;The other thing to have a plan for is Alcan gas availability and pricing.</div><div><br></div><div>I would make the run with an R-Pod without worry. &nbsp;Of course, for us, it would be a southbound trip. &nbsp;It's a great trip, you will love it!</div><div><br></div>]]>

I did not want to get into it with him, but my perception is that there are PLENTY of RVers and Trailer Pullers who do this every year and the roads would be the least of my worries. &nbsp;I am not ready to go quite yet, but will within the next couple of years...please post photos and experiences for us!]]>
