I looked at the Winnie Drop's at a dealer a while back I thought the fit and finish looked good. There are only a few campers that have a one piece fiberglass roof. There have been two that have been discontinued the V-Cross Vibe and the Evergreen Ascend. Evergreen I heard that the factory had a difficult time in production in keeping the one piece fiberglass roof from breaking during assembly. It is a larger camper than the R-pods.]]>

I think the members have always been friendly and have welcomed all r-pod owners and non r-pod owners. I was thinking if being the Winnies are so similar they could have their own area. Having sort of a r-pod and Winnie forum. Just some ideas from a non r-pod owner. I mentioned on the Forest River forum that other Vibe owners might find this forum interesting and the moderators deleted my post. That is one of the reasons for the creation of the "non-pod" area.  I have a feeling there will be a lot of similarities between the two, anyway.  There are several areas of the forum that are not strictly "Pod-specific".  For instance, camping adventures are always enjoyable to read, regardless of what someone is pulling.<br /><br />It will always be a R-pod forum.  But, if you aren't pulling a Pod at the moment, we still love ya!]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1014" rel="nofollow">Camper Bob</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 7009<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 24 Sep 2015 at 8:04pm<br /><br />My sense of this is that Winnebago realized that it was cheaper to pay a licensing fee than to try and design something that could infringe upon FR's designs, and then have to deal with a lawsuit. &nbsp;I would suggest the other copy cats did not pay any licensing fees and FR rightly&nbsp;<span style="line-height: 16.8px;">sued and won</span>&nbsp;in defending the design. &nbsp;I am sure there are many other types of licensing agreements between large companies, although I cannot describe any off the top of my head. &nbsp;I assume FR has copyrighted the design and therefore, Winnebago had to enter into a cross licensing agreement to play in the small RV arena. &nbsp;Their Micro Mini Wini did not impress my wife and I after trying to find one to see. &nbsp;It really cannot &nbsp;touch the Rpod in size, amenities, or quality of build for the price. &nbsp;Safe Travels. &nbsp;&nbsp;]]>

It seems that the Rpod is such an incredible hit that even Winnebago is having them made for them and selling them as a Winnebago. Great news for FR but I wonder how that will effect the quality of the Pods.  Seems that FR can't keep up with the flow now, unless they designate another factory to manufacture them.  Very interesting.  Did you notice the price on the Winnie version.  Wonder how they are going to justify the pricing against the Pod version.  Business can be so fascinating. We just saw it at Hershey RV show. We'll stick with our 178.<div><br></div><div>FWIW, we walked miles and looked at hundreds and have absolutely no buyer's remorse. One big disappointment was the Camplite. I know that it is a very well built small camper and was one of the main reasons I wanted to go to the show. I want one. I'm not gonna get one though. Wife was not impressed.</div><div><br></div><div>She's right. They just do/did not present themselves well. They could be appointed sooo much nicer inside. Kinda looked like cheap contact paper on the cabinetry to make it look like "wood". Diamond plate step up to slide out dinette really turned her off. &nbsp;I tried pointing out the welded aluminum inside every cabinet and how strong everything was, but...</div><div><br></div><div>We will stick with our 178.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1014" rel="nofollow">Camper Bob</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 7009<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 23 Sep 2015 at 6:11pm<br /><br />No. &nbsp;But just went to local RV show to look at Micro Mini Winni. &nbsp;A 17' trailer with dry bath. &nbsp;The trailer weighs about 600 lbs. more than our 171. &nbsp;They do not offer a convection microwave oven and the water heater is an instant heater. &nbsp;You have hot water for about 20 seconds and then it has to heat more. &nbsp;There is a vent for heat to the bathroom but not very effective according to the YOUTUBE video from an owner. &nbsp;Not sure a shower would be pleasant. &nbsp;The fit and finish is no better than FR and possibly worse. &nbsp;The price is substantially more than a comparable Pod w/o slideout. &nbsp; Did not make sense for us to trade our Pod in for a dry bath. &nbsp;Also saw the Rpod 180. &nbsp;The loss of storage space outside and under the bed was a deal killer for us. &nbsp;Also, the flat finish on the cabinets, made them look cheap. &nbsp; Staying with our 171. &nbsp;Safe Travels.]]>
