I did this to carry my Genset but I could have gone with a box to carry other stuff instead. This is a cargo tray designed to go in a receiver hitch bolted to the a frame. You could put a box there without moving the LP bottle if it was narrow enough.

I would suggest putting a large sign on the back of your Pod - "Stay 300 Feet Back."

Unless you considerably beef up the frame and hitch, I would recommend against it. If storage space is a problem, you would be much better off with a TV rooftop carrier, in my opinion.

Leverage.

I want you to walk five miles with a gallon jug of milk in your hand.  Would you rather carry it with your arm sticking straight out?  Or, would you prefer to carry it close to your body?

Physics are the same on your hitch.  The spare tire holder (or bike rack) holds the weight vertically and very close to the trailer.  A cargo hitch box allows the weight to be further away.

My advice is: be careful what you're doing.  If you decide to go with some sort of hitch box, make sure that the weight (*all* of it) is held close to the trailer.

Since the RPod179 outside storage space is tiny. The Rdome takes up 90% of the space. The hitch for the spare tire has a capacity is 150lbs max. I've removed the spare tire rack. I want to order a cargo box to carry the Rdome, outside rug, and visor.

Does anyone have any thoughts on if this a good or a bad idea?
