We will most likely cover our 178 with one of these, haven't decided yet but I'm leaning toward the cheaper because it's lighter and will be easier to put on.

I guess it depends on how far south and whether it will get any shade. 

We live in Corpus Christi.  We stored our old Surveyor at a commercial storage facility where it got broken morning sunlight on the back end and curb side.  The front and street side got full afternoon sun - no covering.  After ten years, as we were getting ready to trade for the Pod, the curb side shined up really well, but the street side never came close, even after using polishing compound and then another coat of wax.  No cracks, but it was definitely dull.  Also, the Surveyor roof was rubber, which we maintained well over the years.  With the Pod, the fiberglass roof will get the noon-day sun, with even more photons than the front or side of the Surveyor ever got. 

We don't have a cover yet, but it's coming.

I may still buy a cover, but this past winter I just put a blue plastic tarp over the top, down to about where the rear window starts and the logo on front. Ties down loosely with enough  space that air can get under it but it keeps the tree sap, leaves, and snow off it. This is the first trailer that I have covered. Im hoping to limit fade and stains by using the cover. I guess time will tell? Gotto get it modified so I can put the slide out and invite friends!

Seriously though, I keep it covered cuz it's parked in a grove of tall pines that make a mess. A plastic tarp was fine the first year, but now I really do like the Classic Accessory cover.

We live in North Carolina.  We cover our Pod for 2 reasons-1) oak leaves will stain and discolor the skin and 2) pine pollen will cover everything with a greenish/yellow powder that is hard to remove.  So, we cover it just to help keep it clean and not have to work so hard.

We have an older model 173 and the cover from Northern Tools fits it perfectly.

We will leave our 179 down south this summer. Looking for opinions on "cover it" or "not". If yes, what kind of cover? or ... store it in a covered storage spot (more expensive but possibly no moisture trapping?) Storage will be in the hot south but not near the ocean.
