Just stop In at AC Nelson and checked out a couple of r-pods and I must say the restrooms are small. I saw a clipper and had a nice bathroom and it's light weight. Tongue weight is about 250 lbs.  What tow vehicle would you be using?  A bigger issue than weight is the wind resistance they produce.  Although R-pods have a curved front end and appear to be aerodynamic, they are still about 7' tall and have a fairly large frontal area.  You really notice it when pulling down the road, especially in a head or cross-wind.

Many R-pods, like the 177 we have, feature queen-sized beds.  But queen-sized in an RV is not the same as at home.  I'm 6' tall, and it's just right for me, but those who are taller than that may have to sleep diagonally.

The bathrooms are very small.  They are what they call "wet baths," that is, the shower and toilet are not separate. 

I recommend you check out various R-pod models in person, whether at AC Nelson in Omaha or somewhere else.  That's the only way you'll really get a feel for them.  R-pods are compact.  I feel ours has everything we want, and more, but there's not a lot of wasted space.  It's perfect for our needs, with our kids being grown, and just a (big) dog to camp with us.  But we're not overly-large people.  Go check them out!  Hope you like them, and hope you find one that works for you.

I did not realize Omaha was just 1 hour from Lincoln... If time permits I might go up there.   

How big is the restroom ( I am not a small guy)?

I haven't gone to a scale with our 177, but according to Forest River, the dry weight is 2,418 lbs.  I believe that doesn't include options like A/C, or battery and propane.  Add to that gear, food, etc., and I would estimate we are pretty close to 3,000 lbs.  I don't travel with the tanks filled, at least not very far, but that would add considerably more weight.

Where in Colorado?  We're in Eagle.  If you're in the Front Range, Kettelsen Campers (on I-70 in Wheatridge) has quite a few on their lot right now.  If you're in the mountains or Western Slope, I'd show you mine, but it's in storage right now, sadly.

Thanks for adding me. In June or July I am planning to buy a VW trike or a camper. Just weighting pros and cons of having one or the other. I had a teardrop camper and just sold it as I wanted a stand up camper I had a trike about 2 years ago and sold it for the TD. It will be the wife and I and my 11 year old grandson. So the search is on. I have a 2007 Kia Sorrento 4x4 that can tow 5,000 ( hitch 350) . I have been looking at different brands to include a homebuilt stand up teardrop with queen bed ( builder can add bunk) and ac which can do as we park at locations with electric. I really think I will have more fun with a camper.

Any from Colorado? I like to take a look at one.

PS- We are not small people and would like to know if the campers are fluffy friendly?


Any advice would be appreciated.
