We cover our Rpod when we put in storage for the winter and getting the cover over the top with the AC and antenna is always a challenge.  We have used a length of PVC pipe with one end covered so it doesn't tear the cover but it's still a challenge to get it over everything on the roof while standing on the ground. I once fell from a forty foot ladder. When I hit the ground, it wasn't really much of an impact and I didn't even feel any pain. I was really lucky I was only on the first rung.

I broke my hip falling from the second step of a ladder onto concrete. Hairline fracture so not a surgical candidate. 6 weeks in a wheelchair instead.

So +1 to LA, height isn't the issue, getting the right ladder for the job and using it properly and with deliberation is. I can't imagine a reason I would ever again get on a ladder that was not actually fit for purpose. That being the case make sure you are at the top of a 12' ladder or taller and don't forget the parachute.LOL

+1 to GG, I have had one for years and think it should be OK for emergency rpod roof access but I would suggest not to try to go any higher.

I got onto our house roof once using it and really had to be careful getting down as the wobbling was quite ummm, "unsettling"...and remember to check all the connection point plastic pieces before each use, I have one bracket that cracked near the top step.

I use one similar to this when I need to access the roof. It collapses to a relatively small size that can easily fit in the Pod while traveling.

I think a ladder is a good idea, for access to solar panels, A/Cand to fix leaks on the road. On most layouts, a Ladder could easily be mounted on the DS, behind or in front of the wheel.

If you had  a solar panel or two up there, it could be beneficial to acces them to set up a z frame  for better angle. Also, if you developed a leak during a longer trip, it would be nice to be able to reseal.

I wish car washes had ladders on the side wall so one could climb up and be able to wash the top of the Pod! I guess in AK you don't need A/C so that pretty much leaves the whole roof open for a rack, might not be able to use the bath vent if it was mounted to close to the roof. Keep the weight lite and you may be OK. A full custom roof rack would be nice on these things, just might add it to my things to do for mine down the road. it would be nice on a clear night/day and have a brusky up there, im wanting to do the same thing to my EX one day.      The r-pod does not have a walk on roof as some campers do. Our Vibe does not have one and I think teckntrek may have said it best that lite weight campers generally do not. The Lance trailers are the only fairly lite trailers I can think of with a ladder. What would you do with access to the roof?  I know there are maintenance issues up there, but, to me anyway, those don't seem to justify carrying a ladder around all the time.
