 I think the only true mental obstacle in owning an R-Pod is the wet bath. I am alone with my camper for weekending in Vermont for mountain biking, and that shower is tight.  BUT it is better than NO shower or hanging an outside solar shower.

 Also having a toilet indoors is really damn convenient!!!  No walking into the cold, wet, or long walk to the woods or campground facilities.

 The Little Guy is only a very very small step up from tent camping, in that is an enclosed hard shell. But that is about all you get for your $6000. If you enjoy tent camping but want shelter from the elements when sleeping, the Little Guy will work. If you want more amenities, then a true camper with those features is needed.  Good Luck.

Hello,

We just purchased a new Rpod 176T. We settled on the pod but only after about a years worth of research. We did a lot of looking at other makes and models and had a short list of 4 or so trailers. If we had not bought the pod, we really wanted a Livin lite by camp lite but they are a little heavier and about 10K more for new.
Now that we have one I can tell you that the Pod has exceeded our expectations in quality and suitability. We had it delivered from Couch's and after going through it for about 3 hours we were at the nearest RV site for a dry run.    Camping World used to sell those trailers near my house. They are small and I agree with what has been said above. But then everyone is different and perhaps if someone buys one that is what they want. I wonder why Camping World stopped selling them,  I thought they were high priced for myself. Personally, I'm not a fan of lying down to pull up my pants. That 'little guy' looks cool and all, but I need my coffee within arm's reach in the morning, rather than going outside and around back to get it in my gaunch.... It does have an optional A/C (window unit in the rear) but no heater....
I had to laugh at the heavy duty 30 Amp cord just like the r-pod even in their base unit...with nothing but lights and a fanLOL


Regarding the A/C-  I've not had good luck with window units used in RVs- I think they aren't built to handle the road pounding and vibration-  I've had two fail early- one in an Aliner and one I put in my 4 Wheel truck camper.   Never had an RV A/C fail...

Modern teardrop, looks cool.  Just understand it doesn't have the amenities of the pod, like A/C, bathroom, etc.

If you camp in the heat, especially where it is humid, there is nothing worse than trying to get to sleep when you are hot and sticky...

I think our 179 is just right for a couple.  We just spent 30 days in ours and I could have done it forever.   We aren't just a couple but travel with two 50+ lb dogs too!  No problem.
Small is an advantage- we camped in several spots where we simply could not have gotten in the spot with something much larger-   that is priceless late in the day when the only spot available is small because others had to pass it up that couldn't fit their 30 ft'er and massive pickup in the spot!

Welcome Kristy T....I am new here too. Like you I want the R-pod so bad I can almost taste it. My problem is we have a camper I have to sale first! Since 2006 we have gone from a 28ft toy hauler,downsized to a 24 ft and again to a 21 ft. I want to go smaller to the 179 R-pod,there is just the 2 of us and mostly we just week end or week long trips.
All the reasons we want the R-pod are listed by others above so I will not re-list them. Good Luck in your search,keep hanging out here to learn lots of great things about the great little R-pods.

   I think everyone would agree that the r-pods are easy to tow and back into small spaces. You do not need a large tow vehicle and you get good MPG considering you are towing a camper. The quality is good as far as campers go and you have a lot of comfort features in a small camper. The only down side and not everyone may agree and that is they are a little small but being small has advantages. Hope this helps.
