Well We had our Pod out on its first trial run this last weekend and we put up the R-dome as well even though we had a concrete pad. We just wanted to see how easy it was. It is easier with two, especially with a small breeze. but it added a whole new dimension to the space.
No one seemed to mind, although there weren't any rules that I saw about tents, even though this isn't really a tent, it's our awning!!

Budward: We were in Glacier Park (Many Glacier campground) in August, and saw at least 12 bears, most of them grizzlies. That included two at very close range (10 yards) directly off the trail we were hiking up. The huckleberries were in season, so the bears seemed to be focused only on them, not on hikers, thankfully.

Many Glacier had lots of bear boxes--at least one for every two sites. Our site had its own bear box located next to the picnic table. It was great for storing our frequently-used propane grill, since I hate putting it in the car or camper (makes everything smell like grilled meat).

The OP question about R Domes and no-tent policies is a good one. We just got our Pod, and it didn't come with an R Dome. We always used the canopy on our popup, so we think we'll be wanting some sort of canopy for the Pod, but will play it by ear for now. We may buy an R Dome, but I'm concerned about the size of it. We often don't have much room next to the door at the campsites we use, so I'm a bit skeptical that we'd be able to set up an R Dome very often.

On our recent trek around the west- noticed a lot of campgrounds have installed steel lockers at sites to place food, grills, etc in.
We did see a black bear at Glacier- way up on a hillside above the Two Medicine campground, munching on berries.
Yawn....we deal with black bears all the time in the smokies and at our land in NC, really hoped to see a brown bear!

Here are two young bears that visited our camp- caught on our trail cam, the one in the foreground is munching on some sprouts from deer corn I spilled. They weren't interested in the 2 barbecue grills on the cable spool in the background....

Interesting that it is ok for the seasonals to put up tents. So the look of it is ok.

Most seasonal contracts (in fact all of them I have heard discussed) put the site maintenance and care on the seasonal renter and not on the park.. so I could see why they allow it. Heck at one of the TT's we frequent seasonal sites have decks, docks, gardens..

There is a campground near adamstown pa that does not allow tarps or tents setup if you are a weekender. Seasonals can do anything they want. True at one of the campgrounds at Yellowstone, and I thought in areas of Yosemite, but I can't find info on that on the NPS website. T models are very rare. We have camped with probably a hundred different pods at this point, and only once with a T model.

I do understand there are campgrounds with no awning/tent/mat/easyup rules. Have not stayed in one yet. I guess I would if I had to, but I would just go somewhere else if at all possible. I doubt they will give you grief about the "tent" on a T model, since it isn't on the ground, which is the issue. That style of TT is called a "hybrid", and there are LOTS of other brands with a hybrid model... I do understand there are some western National Parks that don't allow "soft sides".. because of bears and such..

We stayed in a very nice RV park in Golden Colorado that prohibited Tents or stakes driven into the ground. Reason being is that they have a sprinkler system installed that they water the grass with at night. Its so dry out there that no watering means a dusty sandy campsite. The thing that bothered us the most was the no campfire rule. Yes, I have had problems in my travels. My advice is to just go with the flow.

Anywhere that doesn't allow easy-ups or dining tents will likely also disallow an r-dome. And, obviously, large cement pads/patios make it difficult/impossible to stake down a dome anyway. Generally, these are RV-resorts which cater to Class As and fifth wheels, so the r-pod was a little out of place anyway.

We Are new Pod owners. Actually we haven't taken delivery of our Pod yet. (48 more hours)
But we have been doing all kinds of research on everything RV'ing. One thing we have run across is several campgrounds have rules like no tents whatsoever.

So my question is, have any of you who have read this and own the Rpod, especially the 176T and R-Dome, have you gotten any static from campgrounds while using your tent and R-dome Awning?

I don't consider the R-dome a tent myself as it serves as our RV awning,

Thoughts??
