Author: gmhansen
Subject: 5211
Posted: 20 Jun 2015 at 11:25pm

I recently bought a 178, and had a similar issue on 3rd weekend trip. I was getting and audible beep for 15 sec that would happen every 2min. After reading in the manual that came with the camper, it said that the door was either open or that I needed to replace the batteries for the power supply (option). I do not have the fridge with the additional batteries. My latch on the fridge seemed to work but was still intermittently beeping.
In the manual I found that the fridge has a docking mode, where you can move the door latch to the up position, and the fridge door will just stay shut bring held by the magnet strip. I tried using the docking mode and found that the door will not stay closed, leading me to believe that the magnets are defective and not aiding in keeping the door fully closed.
I brought to the dealer since it was still under warranty and told them what I tried. They had my camper for a couple days and made adjustments to the door latch and switch. The fridge worked fine on last trip. While in "docking mode" the door will still not stay closed.
IMHO the factory door magnets are defective and the adjustment just masks the root issue. I will continue to monitor and use the factory warranty accordingly.
