A stay in Big Sur would not be complete without a day trip to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park 

We would not have known how special this place was had it not been recommended by some fellow campers we met at the Big Sur Campground. If you live there, you are incredibly fortunate. If you are camping anywhere nearby, you must pack a picnic and head off to this magical place.

For us it was about 30 miles south of the Big Sur Campground.
