We had thought to stay at Jellystone because of the boys, but parental preference would lean more to Diamond Caverns or Nolin Lake. I wish we could come up for the rally, but won't have the time off in Sept to do it. We were thinking spring or summer. More likely summer. Where are you staying in the Mammoth Cave area?
 
Diamond Caverns is pretty nice. The NP park is small, pretty, no hook ups though. The Jellystone seems hit or miss.. Nolin Lake State Park is nice, we have a rally coming up there in Sept.

Thank you, furpod! I had looked at Twin Knobs, but was unsure. I can go anywhere in the forest for 2-3 nights and still have plenty of time to get home. I was just unsure what area offered the most. Best views , family friendly trails, etc. I also considered Grove campground near Laurel Lake, but Twin Knobs was the other campground I couldn't decide between. Either place looks incredible, Kentucky is a beautiful state! It's a very large area.. Do you know where you want to be? If at the north end, I can highly recommend Twin Knobs.. reservations are sketchy, most of the sites are first come first served.. but an absolutely nice campground, clean, well laid out, many sites are very large. 2-3 loops have W/E. a few sites (I think) are W/E/S.. many more are E only, but not far to water to top off your holding tanks if needed. Hi everyone! We are considering a trip to Daniel Boone National Forest. It is just us and our 2 boys (8 and 5). Does anyone have any advice on the best place to stay?
