They are called gas props, gas springs, or gas struts. RV Designer carries these and has a good selector chart:<br><br><a href="http://rvdesigner.com/gas_props.asp?ci=12" target="_blank">http://rvdesigner.com/gas_props.asp?ci=12</a><br><br>Camping World and Amazon usually carry a selection. If you do have to replace the originals this is an opportunity to upgrade to higher force units if you have added heavy bedding such as a topper. <b>However, you may also have to beef up the mounting points for the stronger struts.</b> The stronger struts can split the wood where they are attached. <br><br>]]>

My answer is usually take a hammer to it, but that usually cost more in the long run. I would call the dealer or if you got it on a private sale given Doug at Mekelsen's rv a call. He is a tech man there and fellow r-pod own. Can usually guide you through probelms over the phone.]]>
