He learned it word of mouth from someone else. After learning about & then putting it into action on his trailers, I have noticed a significant number of trailers in Northwestern Ohio plated that way. I asked a customer who is an Ohio State Patrolman about Ohio's stance on this. His quote was " Ohio's Stance is that they have no stance". We have run our other trailers 3 years this way with no problems. Other than we've been followed for a seemingly long while on the Ohio Turnpike by a State Trooper a couple of times.

In Michigan, You buy a permanent trailer plate & never renew it again as long as you own the trailer. That said, A person living in Ohio can buy a permanent trailer plate from Michigan & use it on their trailer that resides in Ohio. The only stipulation by the state of Michigan is that "they'd like you to use it at least 50% of the time in Michigan". According to the girl at the BMV. Living just south of the Michigan border, we have plated our Coleman & utility trailer this way. And we are planning to do the same with our Pod.
Has anyone else done this? Is this available in any other states?
