We just recently purchased a 2013 model 172 and took it camping last weekend--we love it! This is our fifth fiberglass trailer in 10 years and so far it's way ahead of everything else. It does require some creativity getting all our "stuff" tucked away but we did it and are now planning our next getaway. The bunk beds are the BOMB! the 179 has a whole pantry area along with a closet and tons of storage under the kitchen cabinets.

I use a pair of plastic add-on mirrors on my Silverado. Standard mirrors are okay but the added 5"-6"  shows me what's right behind me. Helps with backing up too. Not essential equipment since the pod is narrowish, but gives you a little bit more to see. It's a personal thing. Like having a dog. Or a different mattress.

My girl friend and I both getting back in to camping after over 20 years. Picked up our 179 this past Saturday ready for winter to be over in central NY so we can get started. Still need to outfit everything inside now. We're new to travel trailers, and are very excited about our purchase, an R Pod 179. We know there will be a big learning curve and lots of questions. First one-we have a Ford Explorer. Will we have to replace the regular mirrors with larger ones??
