I've found the best way to avoid with power loss, is to invest in a good generator. We bought a 8500 watt unit about 3 years ago, keep it in our detached shop, and back feed the whole house. We have only lost power once for about 4 hours since. We used to lose power if a cloud passed in front of the sun. The best thing about running it in the shop, is all the pests, who try to make their home there, either leave or die.

Two weeks without power can be pretty convincing. Hi temps in the low 20's for the next week or so. We have been lucky so far and have not lost the power. We live in a wooded area on a dead end road and I cant believe that the 60 and 70 foot hardwoods have not fallen across the road. My 5500 watt Generac is ready to go on line if needed. the poor Pod is a covered up white blob. I am starting to wonder if it will ever get warm enough to use it.
