Where would they put the tv?  It is so small that you would not be able to see it from the sofa if it was over the u shaped couch. Great ideas if they could solve the tv problem.

I wonder if FR can do a slight modification for us.  Remove the entertainment center from the 176, and replace the narrow bunks with the 42" wide bunks from the 172.  Seems like that would be fairly easy to do.  We'd be the first in line!!!

I saw each of these this week. It is amazing how much a 16" slide will make. It is a great addition. I am surprised that I  have not seen any photo's from Admin as I assume we were at the same show this week based on the hybrid photo's. 

The queen bed is much easier to get in and out of now than the 171 if you can handle the increase in price and weight.

That's great to hear!  We're actually leaning towards the 176 ourselves.  But it probably won't be until next Spring at the earliest.  Make sure you post pics of your 177 right away!  Big smile

We just reserved a 177 soon to arrive @ RV Nation in October.
 
We're very excited about it !!
We were contemplating a used '07 Zoom but stumbled upon the Pod
on the internet.
Towing was a big concern, our limit is 5000, but I really dont care to test that theory.
The 177 was well in our lbs range w/overhead to boot.
The Kitchen Slide is a nice feature (floor area), Queen Bed (a must), and dinnette was our
kind of set-up. (sitting area/bed).
We will post all the "newbie" reactions soon.
We are looking forward to being part of the "Pod" family !!!

We are going to look at Outbounds's 171 tomorrow and I'd like to try and figure out how much cabinet and counter space we'd be losing for the kitchen to fit in the slide out of the 177. Indeed, my entertainment center starts at the exit of the camper!
We are weekend campers too with an odd week now and again.
We won't be buying until early spring next year so I guess I can wait and see how things turn out.

We agree!   Actually, when I saw the 176, I emailed my wife right away.  When we looked at it closer that night, with plans of moving forward with purchasing the 176, we realized the bunks were a lot narrower. 

We have little boys right now, but plan on having our r-pod for quite a while.  As they get bigger & start bringing a couple of friends, the extra foot in width could make a big difference.

As for the entertainment center, many people may find that a plus.  But we never watch TV when camping.  We mostly weekend camp, and we're too busy spending time outdoors.  We'd rather have the extra bunk bed space.

Overall, both are great new designs.  Makes me glad to know the r-pods are becoming as popular as they are.  As someone else said, maybe we'll be seeing a model 178 soon.  Wink

I also went through the process of wondering if I am seeing anything here that would make me change my 174 order. As I recall from the rental, the slide out gives you about 12 - 18 extra inches only- much less than the typical slide out in a bigger unit, but really made a difference for us. We are contemplating changing our recently ordered 171 to a 177. It looks like the kitchen area will be narrower (less counterspace) and shorter (less overhead and under cabinet space) than a comparable 171 so that everything will fit in the 55" slide out - it would be interesting to see a side plan schematic to know how much you'd be giving up for the extra floor space - does anyone know how much far the slide out slides out? it looks like maybe 18-20 inches?

They are motorized.  I've never looked at the underside / guts, but I'm assuming motor / gear reducer / worm screw for the drive.

The two new Rpods are nice, but I'll stay with my 172. No sliding parts to maintain, or leak, and the extra room just isn't that big a deal to us. After spending so many years on boats we've learned to live small. I'm sure the new floor plans will have great appeal to some, though. RV manufactures have been doing slideouts with utilities in them for long enough that won't be a problem.

It gets a bit tight when more than one person is trying to move around, and when the person at the back of the bed has to get up - and over - the one closer to the aisle for a midnight bathroom break.  The extra room would help with both.

Hrmmmm... on the 171 vs 177,  I say no.  I'll stick with the 171.  We haven't had space problems while cooking, and I don't do pirouettes in the aisle, so I can't really see an advantage to having a wider floor.  The extra weight, and the extra step of dealing with the tip-out when setting up/packing are two big negatives to me.

Strange that FR would flip the toilet to face the back of the trailer... I wonder why.

I like the new 176 / 177's...  they will be bringing even more people to the R-Pod nation.  I think, however, that I'll be very happy with my 172.  I got it not for the room inside the unit, but for the lack of room.  If I wanted a TT for living "indoors", I wouldn't have purchased my R-Pod.  So now, instead of being cramped up in my unit, I'm asking my wife and daughters  to join me "outdoors"... lets do some hicking, some cycling, trail walking .. etc,etc,....
