Can't argue that.  We didn't camp but did the whole Cabot Trail, and a whole lot more a couple of years ago.  It was too far to take the pod while still working, not to mention we didn't have the pod then, but there are fantastic places to see, eat, and I'm sure, camp.  One of our best trips ever.

We spent most of the time on Cape Breton, but we spent a few days in Halifax.  The Cat was still running from Yarmouth, so we took that and got to see the south island between Halifax and there.

We camped at Thomas Raddall provincial park in the South Shore region. It was spectacular! Great private camp sites and thick woods with lots of mist and hanging moss. It looked like my idea of the forest primeval.

We also stayed at a nice private campground near Digby. It was open but had good sized sites and nice folks. We developed a taste for Digby scallops which I liked even better than that fantastic Bay of Fundy lobster.

I would leave for Nova Scotia today if life permitted. Beautiful country and wonderful people. If you want to see the fall colours, head to Cape Breton Island in northern Nova Scotia. The Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Cheticamp or Ingonish is a nice place to camp. Your choice of full service lots, W&E lots and no service lots. The colours are beautiful around the Cabot Trail. Very scenic drive. October is also the Celtic Colours Festival with lots of music around the Island. Whycocomagh Provincial Park is also a nice place to stay. I believe they are open until October 21. This puts you near Baddeck which is on the Bras d'Or lakes and central to everything if you want to do several day trips along the Cabot Trail. I have no experience camping in New Brunswick (Seanl's province) but you could benefit from a stopover in that province too. Lots to see.
