We love a private place on Key Largo,,,it is called Key Largo Kampground and Marina.  There are a few sites on the water with their own tiki hut. We try to reserve a year ahead of time, but our first year ,,,it was due to a cancellation. We went by it a couple years ago when we went to the Key West, I remeber it to be the same as reddog described. We stayed at the KOA on Sugarloaf Key. It is truly an amazing area, we really loved it and will definitely be going back.

I've not camped there, but I have driven thru. Looks like the only potential problem would be noise from Highway 1. It's long and narrow with all sites near the road as I remember. It's been a couple of years since we were there. We love the Keys. Our favorite campground is Bahia Honda, but it's hard to get a site. A private campground on Grassy Key ( Jolly Roger ) is pretty nice.
