We ended up taking the window out this weekend. Steve removed the old seal and silicone.  He installed new butal tape and put a bead of silicone sealant around the sealing surface of the window frame. Then installed the window. It's important to install the inner frame with equal tension. This draws the window/sealing surface evenly to the RV siding.  No gap!  Doing it this way also ensures the silicone has been placed between the frame and siding. Once the silicone cures, Steve will trim off the excess (the silicone "squishes out" as the window is drawn into place. The butal tape remains flexible and provides a great seal. 

We checked to see if the inner wall was wet. He cut a 2" by 10" hole in the wall just above the bed deck. (Not visible when the mattress is on) The insulation was damp, no water and the wood frame had no sign of water dicoloration. We are letting it dry out, then will replace the piece and caulk it. 

It rained like crazy last night with no leaks. Whew.......

Did you mean to say INTERIOR WALL?  I have some leak damage on the inside which has wavy and bubbling effects between rear window and ceiling ... and I'm thinking about opening the wall to release any residual moisture.

Can anyone suggest any do's and don't s if I open the wall?

I suggest that you message HuronSailor for advice before you remove the window - he's done it before and will likely have a few tips on what you need and what you might encounter.

As far as water and/or mold, its a possibility.  Check for damage while you've got the window out.

Bummer......

Steve can do the repair himself but was hoping the dealer would take care of it.  Should we be worried about water in the wall?  Mold?

That's correct. The warranty is non-transferable.

It really won't cost that much to have a reputable dealer remove, clean and reseal the rear window.  Likely less than $200.

Soooooo.......Went camping in our 2013 R-Pod 177. Friday night it rained a little. All is good. 
Saturday night it poured and poured. I woke up in a wet bed. I don't know if I was more sad or mad. 
The water came in thru the rear window frame. 

We bought this camper on Craigslist from a very nice couple. They bought it last January.  They inherited a cabin so didn't need the camper anymore. 

I called a dealer near me today, Coates RV in Hugo, MN thinking that it is still under warranty. They said that the warranty is not transferable. Does anyone know if that is true? Didn't have time to call Forest River yet.
