Hi chiman, We found installing the rod in the visor first made the process MUCH easier. I pushed the keder past most of the screws easily, if there was the slightest resistance, I could gently pull the leading edge of the visor away from the pod by the installed rod, reducing the pressure the keder exerted on the screw heads, and it slipped right by. I still have the original screws in my channel. Matter of fact I didn't even remove the sharp edge from the channel's end or spray silicone in it. No stool, no ladder, no sweat You'll love it!

Question for you:

Due to weather I have not had a chance yet to try the visor as stated in my posts.  Have smoothed out the ends of the awning channels but wanted to know from your post on putting he visor up by running the pole in first on the visor then putting the visor through the channel.  Question:  Did you have any trouble in doing so with the round headed screws in the channel hitting the bead on the visor or causing any problems at all?

There are quite a few of the round headed screws in my channel that seem like they may cause a rubbing problem but thought I would ask if you had any problems prior to my attempting to replace all my screws with flat head screws.  Any help on the subject would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Glad to see someone take advantage of our "trials". I hope you are as satisfied as we are. Although we haven't taken the "pod" out since we got the latest visor, I have full confidence in it, based on the performance I observed with the smaller units. The much smaller, 150" unit, "almost" worked, it actually only failed when it got wet. Thanks for all your work on the visor.  I have had a new 2014 178 for a couple of months and have watched this tread for a while.  I had an older r pod and ordered an awning from Bear Creek Canvas which they made and shipped to me (several years back).  I had to put plastic tubing over their rope to make it fit in the awning rail.  The awning was great but didn't care for having to put up the support poles and ropes to hold the support poles in place each time I used it.  Gave it to the guy who bought my older rpod.

So, last week I ordered a visor from Mike (I think it was Mike but could have been Jeff) and he was a pleasure to work with.  I asked when they could get it done and shipped (remember this was Thanksgiving week when I ordered it).  He told me he thought they could get it done and shipped to me this Monday.  Much to my surprise I got an email on Monday afternoon with the UPS tracking number with an expected delivery of this Thursday.  I checked today and it is on a UPS truck and will be delivered to my home tomorrow (Thursday).

Very good and fast service and the measurements were based upon the success of your visor.

We had an r.dome and sold it. As we have a 181G, we do all our camping in the back of our 'pod at the "garage", we had no use for a room on the side. From what I've seen, they do quite well in inclement weather, just as long as you don't try to erect it on a windy day.

I've been back and forth with Mike since February, he has always responded. I will admit to doing a little "prodding" and they don't seem to "deliver" on their promises in what I would consider "a timely manner", but maybe that is because they are an entire continent away. In his defense, he has ultimately followed through on his commitments each time.

What I'm hoping for is a working visor which can be used as a pattern for subsequent r.pod visors. If we know that they simply will not work unless they are the full length of the track or have at least 18" of "drop", or whatever, we will have a starting point for any future units. I look forward to your update, Old and Mrs Dingo. I really would like this visor thing to work. We got our Pod in October of last year, and really have not had a good weather outing with it yet. The first was the best weather, because it was just October cold; but the Pod hadn't been weather sealed properly at the factory, and we couldn't keep it warm. Our dealer took care of that problem, but every trip since has been dominated by nasty weather. However, the rDome has impressed us every time. The first time, we were just impressed by its size and versatility. On another trip, we camped through multiple serious downpours. The Pod itself is kind of a nice experience in hard rain, because it feels like such a cozy wrap-around protection from the storm. The rDome, though, was amazing. We leave our dogs in crates under the Dome, and they stayed nice and dry in spite of the extremely heavy rainfall all around them. On another trip, it absolutely saved the dogs and us from the most mosquito infested weekend we have experienced in years, plus lots of drizzle. The netting doesn't appear to be no-see-um proof; but it sure does the trick for the bugs we experienced. On the most recent trip, the Dome withstood amazingly strong and relentless winds for 3 days and 2 nights. That particularly surprised me, because it seems like I'm trying to stack a house of cards when I'm putting the Dome up. Once everything's in place, though, it's a remarkable shelter (I'm knocking on wood here).
 
None-the-less, the will be occasions when we just don't have the time or will to setup the Dome. I think a visor extending the full length of the track would be an awesome solution for those situations. It would seem to me that running the full length of the track would add more stability to the visor than the shorter version; so I'm anxious to read your next report. If they ever get it right, I hope they can keep it affordable.

August 7-11 I was camping in western Pennsylvania, we had 3 days of rain, and as you may have guessed the new 150" visor wouldn't stay up, with any slight breeze, it did it's impression of a pirate with an eye patch. I found it's even worse when it is wet. I guess it's the extra weight of the water absorbed by the fabric did it. Even though nylon doesn't absorb much water, it was enough.

When I returned I wrote back to Mike Greaves at PahaQue. I received mine in March, tested the ketter size in my channel to ensure right fit and placed back in box.

Due to many reasons, this year I haven't camped until last weekend.

Tried to put up my new visor.  Won't stay up!

Now I am reading why.  Just emailed them.

The four month turn around is definately not acceptable.  I was lucky and only had to wait three weeks.  (I did email them a couple of times to check on delivery :)  My expectation would be that if they have had numerous issues with the length of the Visor not fitting newer models - they probably need to be more specific on their order form (Model #, length of trailer, track size, etc).  There is enough variation now in R-pod sizes that more questions need to be asked.  On my latest return, I was asked how much track was left on each side of the Visor?  If you are requesting one that is 190" than that takes away the guess work for sure!  If you ever receive a product that is satisfactory - I would really like to hear how you like it (and also see pictures!)  All I heard from my family is that it looked like a giant broken pringle :)  I see the potential -- but they need to have consistency in what they are sending.  Again, I appreciate your feedback - it truly helps in making educated decisions.

I'm not saying they weren't "timely" or sincere with their e-mail responses, I'm saying they don't listen to their customers and the reaction time (4+ months) in solving their problems isn't what I expect. I would be more than happy to pay the additional cost for the extra large 190" visor I requested. Thank you to everyone for the feedback.  I ordered the Visor from PahaQue - however - it was too small and would not stay up (which is why I asked if anyone had gotten one for the longer R-Pods).  I immediately contacted PahaQue utilizing their online chat and had a very positive conversation with the person on the other end.  Of course, this was on a Friday - but first thing Monday morning I received a phone call with the promise that a new longer Visor would be sent out by the end of the week.  It was.  But, it was again too small.  I am not sure, but I feel they are still trying to find a length of Visor that will work with the longer models.  Regardless, after sending an email to let them know the problem - and that I was going to return the Visor and wait to decide what to do next - I recevied a prompt reply apologizing for the "fiasco".  I have to say in defense of PahaQue - they have been very timely in their response, have sincerely tried to make my order work and the customer services has been exceptional.  I would not hesitate to order from them again based on this experience -- AS LONG AS -- I could be assured the Visor would fit and not collapse.  What I really wish is that Forest River would come up with an alternate awning to the R-Dome that would work with the R-Pods - something that would provide shade and  protection without the "full room" look of the dome.  Anyway, I wanted to share my experience and assure anyone interested -- that although I did not end up with their product in the end -- I was happy overall with their service.

Sounds like they sent you the one they originally manufactured for the t@b.

It's a small business and I know that their customer service used to be really good (back in the Thor-manufactured t@b days).  Perhaps because they are the only game in town now for the t@b and are swamped with orders?

Hey gang, it sounds like we have had similar experiences. We too, ordered our visor in February, got it about April, while the r-pod was still under it's cover. (we have a 181G) When we tried to install in May, we found it was too short and one side wouldn't stay up. Talked to Mike and he confirmed it was too short, promised to make it right, so we returned it. In June we got the second visor, it was about 10" longer, but still too short to keep both sides up. Sent a picture, took measurements, and offered suggestions to Mike. This week we got the third visor, still too short, 145", even though I specifically asked Mike to make it 190" long. (total length of the track) We still have visor #2, I've asked several time how they want it returned with no response. I give up, the visor will stay up with absolutely no wind, but the slightest breeze drops one side. (r-pod looks like a pirate with an eye patch) Now I have two visors, neither of which is satisfactory, I'm waiting for them to contact me, I'm done "chasing" a solution. The following is only my view and does not reflect anyone else's views - Take it for what it worth but just letting people know what may happen to you.

I ordered My R-Pod Visor silver/Blue for my 2009 Early Model Visor on Feb 18, 2013. Was billed right away to my Credit Card. Original Product Shipped 3/29/2013 and received in an old screen box (like a screen you would put in a windows 8 LBS shipping weight). Found out that the wrong rope size was installed on the Awning. Package picked up and sent back to them on 4/22/2013 with a piece of my cording. Another awning was shipped out and received 5/21/13 (shipped in a nice UPS Express Tube 6 LBS shipping weight) Called and spoke to Jeff on June 21, 2013 that the poles were damaged as the cord is snapped (UPS was blamed for the damage). Jeff was going to have a new pole shipped and to me by June 28th. June 28th called after not seeing the pole arrive to talk to Mike Greaves who knew the poles had not shipped and was planning to call me for the last few days about that. He was shipping new cord for me to record the pole due to be at my office 7/2/2013. Also the guy lines have the wrong Keder sew to it. It has the Thick style! Does no one check what is shipped before they send it? They overnighted new poles and also guy lines with the correct Keder to them. Took camping on July 4th and went to setup the awning and as soon as we ran the pole through the awning the awning ripped. best thing I did with it was throw it out and cut my loses.

only place I found a phone number was on the third banner ad.

My personal experience with this company has not been good others may have lucked out with them.

I love our r-Dome, but the round-head track screws are terrible. I don't understand why the mfr did that. Same problem in the bottom track for the screen skirt. I don't have the time/patience right now to replace them. The dome really proved itself a couple weeks ago. We got to our site just about sundown, so I did a rush job of setting up the dome. Still, I put our 2 dogs inside the dome in their crates, and the sky dumped about 2-years-worth of rain that night. I don't remember the last time I experienced such a relentless cloud thrashing. Still, the dome and our dogs were fine when we got up the next morning.
 
Just the same, this visor thing is so cussed cute, I may just have to get one for quickie outings when it's impractical to setup and take down the dome.

My visor had a perfect fit to the awning rail.  So perfect that the Pod's OEM round head screws would not allow the visor to slide through the rail.  Any smaller diameter and the visor would probably pop out.  So I replaced all of the rounded screws with flat-head stainless screws. I found out that my R-Dome also now slides on more smoothly without having to bump into the rounded heads.
