IF we are not knee deep in snow i may get out at end of week and will really try this method. I have the cast iron trivit and even a mini-potpie tin would do the trick!     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1442" rel="nofollow">P&M</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 3062<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 29 Oct 2012 at 5:16pm<br /><br />Correct, water would only steam them and then you'd have soggy biscuits.&nbsp; Ick.&nbsp; The pre-heating does cut down on the cook time and provides a little bit better level of overall heat circulation, but the key is to get the pan of biscuits off the bottom with a trivett or anything else that allows for an air pocket.&nbsp; It is the air that gets heated and circulates to cook the bisuits.]]>

I guess by preheating all that cuts the cook time down some? If water is put in bottom that would only "steam" the biscuits, right?]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1442" rel="nofollow">P&M</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 3062<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 29 Oct 2012 at 11:12am<br /><br />One way that I have done it in the past is to place a trivet inside on the bottom of the dutch oven, and then put the biscuits in a disposable aluminum pan that will fit inside and put the lid on it.&nbsp; By raising it up and off of the bottom you create a mini-oven environment that helps to keep the biscuits from burning on the bottom.&nbsp; Preheat it so that it is hot inside the "oven" before putting the biscuits in, and keep checking until they are done.]]>
