I got the memory foam to put a little padding on top of it. I am not talking about the really expensive memory foam, this is about 6" thick.<div>it is a pain to make up the bed, I just spread 2 top sheets sheets on it and cover it up with a coverlet and put pillows around the back, looks homey. In summer I sleep on top of the coverlet, might have a light quilt handy for wee hours. I just wash the coverlet after a trip since I have a dog on it too, now will be 2 dogs. </div><div>amazing how much you can spend on this and thats! </div><div>Comet looks like he/she enjoys camping, what dog doesn't.....</div>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1442" rel="nofollow">P&M</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 3043<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 23 Oct 2012 at 11:12am<br /><br /><P>Wow, the mattress must really, really suck to try and sleep on!</P><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>We actually have a queen-sized Coleman deep air mattress (6" deep") that we have been using for our tent camping, and we are planning on using it for now in the Pod.&nbsp; Just inflate when we get there and deflate when ready to leave, and we can pretty much leave it unrolled and laid out on the bed.&nbsp; That should work well for us during the winter camping months, and we already have a set of sheets for it and lots of extra blankets to throw on top of us.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Knowing the misses, though, I'm sure that next year we may very well be looking for something along the lines of a nice feather or memory foam topper to replace the air mattress with.&nbsp; Just gonna have to wait until I'm done spending money on all the other accessories we want first!&nbsp; <img src="http://www.rpod-owners.com/smileys/smiley1.gif" height="18" width="18" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></DIV>]]>

I have had motorcoaches and tents. It might not be a Sealy, but it is not the ground in a sleeping bag! Have camped with my one dog, now have a 6 month old puppy in addition, going last of Oct. for his first camping trip.<div>Happy podding!</div>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1442" rel="nofollow">P&M</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 3043<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 20 Oct 2012 at 4:58pm<br /><br />Picked up our 171 yesterday, and overall things went fairly smoothly for the first trip with it.&nbsp; 77 miles home to the storage center averaging 10.4 mpg over hilly terrain and wind in my face, so I'm okay with that.&nbsp; Haven't towed anything in almost 30 years now, so it seemed like forever for me to actually pull out of the dealer and onto the highway that they are on ... am pretty sure I heard them snickering from inside.&nbsp; <img src="http://www.rpod-owners.com/smileys/smiley9.gif" height="20" width="20" border="0" alt="Embarrassed" title="Embarrassed" />&nbsp; But, better safe than sorry.&nbsp; Felt good after about 10 miles in and relaxed some, and when we pulled off for lunch and into a shopping center there were no pangs of anxiety.&nbsp; Stopped by home first so that Comet could take a sniff around inside, and then over to where we are storing it.&nbsp; Only took us 20 minutes to get it settled in for a couple weeks stay (including pulling the battery and locking it away inside so it isn't as easy to steal) so not bad for our first time ... wife was very impressed with how quickly it went.<div>&nbsp;</div><div>Couple of pics from the day -- first is at the dealer with our 171 and TV.&nbsp; Don't know why the back door is open.&nbsp; Second is Comet seeming to enjoy his first chance at checking out the bed!</div><div><img src="uploads/1442/Pod_001_800x450.jpg" height="450" width="800" border="0" /></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><img src="uploads/1442/Pod_007_800x450.jpg" height="450" width="800" border="0" /></div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]>
