Great vacation!!
Met a lot of really nice people, didn't see any R-pods but did see a T@b trailer from Michigan, nice but very small.
My brother is a Dodge mechanic, says the Pen star 3.6 engine puts out a lot more horsepower and also the newer Grand Caravans have 2 extra gears in the transmission that also helps. We also travel with only 5-6 gallons in the pottable water tank, all other tank empty.

Drove back more inland, did really well towing with the new van, we started out at 15 mpg and at the best point, hit 17.1. most of the way back we average 15-8 to 16-5mpg.

Will definitely be heading back in the near future.

Just another tidbit, we saw a group of Dolphins going by the beach, while I was fishing today. We have also seen them swimming by at the big bridge that comes onto the Island and they were swimming along side the ferry as we headed over to Ocracoke Island.

Amazing!!

We have met numerous dogs at the campsites and along the beach! The KOA has a pet walkway on one side of the KOA and a Camp Kanine doggy park on the other side.
If you come next year I would definitely recommend the Top Dog Cafe next to the campground, the down under resteraunt about a mile or so south and the Dolphin Den resteraunt in Avon about 20 mins south are have some of the best food in the area.

Enjoy

I recommend it highly if you get down to this area. A couple of things to keep in mind when your planning- it is wide open beach, so the sun is a factor (need umbrella's, cabannas) and the wind. Being rig ht on the ocean it kicks up pretty good limiting how much you can use your dome. Today we have 17 mph winds with gust up to 26 mph.

The facilities are all new ( rebuild after Irene).

The surf fishing is amazing! 24 fish in 6 days so far!
