    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1464" rel="nofollow">coopercdrkey</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 2945<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 21 Sep 2012 at 5:38pm<br /><br />Manatee Spring is one of the many fresh water springs that contribute to the Suwannee River as it winds from the swamps of Georgia to the Gulf of Mexico. &nbsp;Depending on water table levels, it pumps out between 3 million and 8 million gallons of water a day. &nbsp;Swimming in the year-'round 72 degree water is invigorating, to say the least.<div><br></div><div>Campsites are spacious enough for up to 40 foot trailers / motor homes, but most of the rigs we saw were smaller. &nbsp;Our RP 177 nestled right in with plenty of room to put up the R-Dome. &nbsp;Oak, Hickory and palm trees shade each site. &nbsp;Power and water, along with a picnic table and fire ring, are provided. &nbsp;A dump station is available on your way out. &nbsp;Rest rooms and showers are conveniently located.</div><div><br></div><div>Pets are allowed, on a leash, but not in the swimming area or on the boardwalk that follows the spring race out to the River. &nbsp;It is in this spring race that one might glimpse a West Indian Manatee during the winter months when the Gulf waters get too cool.</div><div><br></div><div>The snack bar / concession stand was closed during our mid-week visit, but I have tent camped there years ago and when open it provides a source of camping related essentials as well as fast food and soft beverages. &nbsp;Picnic tables and covered pavilions are available for both campers and day visitors.</div><div><br></div><div>Fees are a very reasonable $20. per night, with a 50% discount available to Florida Senior Citizens, (65 years old, or, as in my case, older!)</div><div><br></div><div>Highly Recommended &nbsp;<img src="https://www.rpod-owners.com/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></div>]]>
