I live in Nashville Tennessee and that model list here for around 20,000 and most dealers here have it discounted down to 16,500 before you  deal any. Maybe it depends on where you live . I guess they can get more for them in different parts of the country. The initial mods are pretty much what you had stated (shower head, 3M hooks, sewer tube, sat TV, etc).  Most of the more simple are pretty much what most poders have already listed.  I do want to "quiet" the water pump (did not do this in our pop up and regretted it everytime it came on!).  Our biggest issue is how best to use the storage and we will learn this (and I am sure change it) everytime we take the pod out.  Getting very excited!  Been waiting for a few months for our pod!  It will be nice to have it.  Oh, yes, it will be in the driveway for a few days at first while we get used it!

I am with Keith and Dar, when We first got ours I wanted to modify this, change that, drill this , correct that, that is my personality. buuutttt, I took my time and we made slow subtle changes, where to put the 3m hooks. We did a couple of trips before I started to make light mods. Nothing structual, just little things like a folding support that holds the top up in the lower bunk while you are looking for things stored, oxygenics shower head, group 27 battery, longer tube with a 15ft dump hose. take it out a few times, enjoy its simplicity and atributes, then go for it. Hi All,  I am new to this site and, to be honest, signed up just to throw our two cents in here.  I also just ordered a 2013 176T, purpose built for us, from our local dealer in PA.  Loaded with the exception of the TV DVR combo as we have our own and I will do the install.  The POD is supposed to arrive this week actually (supposed to pick it up Saturday the 11th)!  However, our price was WAY lower than 18k!  We came in at just over $14k and that is with taxes, tags, prep!  I bet that both of the 176T's are being built side by side!!!!  One a lot less expensive to the buyer than the other!

You definitely want to use the knowledge you now have as a bargaining tool to get your dealer down $2k.  My dealer (the same one as rpodcamper's) wanted something like $16,000 sticker price for ours, fully loaded.  Then after negotiating swore that $14,000 was their lowest price.  After pulling out proof that I could get the same model for $12,000, they immediately came down to match it.  Buying local is fine, but as I said, their price is high and you should get them to lower it.

Most of the bugs have been worked out in the new models. It's more like what mods do you want to do to make it work that much better for you. Enjoy camping with the family as my kids talk about all the times we had in a pop up camper. I jumped on the rpod wagon pretty early on and as new models have come out I have been tempted to jump in with a newer model.  But then I remember what I liked about the 171.  I liked the deal I was able to work out and got the bugs out and things working the way we want them to.  Enjoy the new camper and we live to see photos!

From looking around online and also talking to my dealer in PA and 2 other dealers I know about the pricing is seeming to be about right.  It is very nice buying local as you help keep jobs local but then you also have a local place to get questions answered, adjustments made.  I have been dealing with the same Dealer for the last 18 years.  There is a big difference in the 2009 R-pod 171 Vs the 2013 176T Trailers.
 
Thats not to say you have a bit of haggle room with the dealer you are dealing with now.  Will they throw anything else in on the dealer?  Like making sure your TV is ready with the break controller, Hitch adjustment, ect........
