Those silly installers sometimes tell people the darndest things.  The others, above, have covered the subject and should solve your issue.
 
Glad you had a good time at the Smoky's.  I'll be making my annual fall trip again this year in October.  I've never camped at Cades Cove.  I usually hit Cosby, Look Rock or, Elkmont.
