Thinker, you are going to have to get a Kindle and load her down with memory chips, I told Donna I was going to get one of those C.D.s of a fireplace thats plays continuosly and crackles so we could have it on in the evening before bedtime. She threatned me, LOL

The first RPod we ever saw was a 171 on Tybee Island in Georgia. 177 for us, and it suits us to a "T".

Because of work related responsibilities, we can only "escape" for a couple of nights midweek.  We also gravitate to the Florida State Parks, so with their fine facilities the lack of a dry bath is less of a problem.  Storage is more than adequate.  The R-Dome goes up every time so living space is huge!  Most cooking is done on outside charcoal grill, and our cooler is more than adequate for two days worth of groceries.  (And beer!)

Our 177 is mostly for shelter-  beds, potty, AC/heat.  Tows easy and sets up fast.  What more do you want?

I bought the discontinued RP173 I got a none slide trailer because I was concerned about the weight with my tow vehicle. We bought a 182G last year and immediately ripped the "trunk" out so we could set up a queen sized bed with a view.  It's wonderful to camp in, and my next set of mods will be rebuild the kitchen in the slide out and fabricate an extension that fits out of the hatch to get us a full 80"x60" queen bed space -- having our heads against the wall, as well insulated as it is, doesn't work for us.

A fun project space you can camp in?  Sign me up!

Looking back, We Like our RP-172 , but, I think I think the 177 for us has a better lay out. We where first time campers when we purchased our 171 in sep 2011,Took it out every weekend and holidays until middle of jan this year. Was fly fishing slipped and broke my leg and ankle,10 screws and a plate,as of todays date i am walking and plan to go next weekend to a park close to us here in Stuart.SO far knock on wood i havent had eny problems with my 171.We are both short and have no troubles getting around in it. C O N G R A T U L A T I O N SThumbs Up Camper Bob !   You will enjoy your new 171 !  We as well "special ordered" our 177 in January 2011; no A/C, no entertainment center, no microwave.  We normally dry camp so w/o electricity, we couldn't use those items anyway.  And Yes, totally in agreement with you on the liberal news bias media anyway - not too much to write home about.  We get nearly all of our news on the internet at Jerusalem World Report - great conservative reporting!  Quite a refreshing break from what you normally hear.
You are way ahead of us on the mattress however, good for you.  We 'endured' our for the first 6 months and finally last fall got one of those "mattress in a box" from camper world.  Wow, great support, and a 100% improvement in comfort.  Keep waiting my friend, the best is yet to come . . .

Our present unit is in the signature block. We bought a RP 171 in 2010 and used it for one season and towed it for over 20 000 km all across Canada. Unfortunately the unit developed a major problem and since we had been unhappy with the wet bath and the climbing over each other in the midde of the night we traded the unit for one with a dry bath and a walkaround queen bed.
 
While we had the Pod it was a lot of fun and served us reasonable well but as more birthdays pile up........well some of you know that story as well. Big smile

We decided on the 171 because the "queen" bed was always set up and because it was lighter and had lower tongue weight than the 177 version of it. Since we spend most of our camping time outside, the 171 is just right for the two of us and still comfy when our daughter is along.
