I think my favorite time for camping is from October to May. Here in Texas, the heat can be a problem in summer. rpodcamper, too true when I take my car or camper over to my friend's house to get some work done.  Installing the weight distribution hitch took half the day due to the beer and grilling!  Big smile
 
G & N, happy to hear you are enjoying some winter camping.  Too often when a few leaves start falling people pack up and go home, not to be seen again until the leaves start reappearing.

We have heat tape on everything that needs it, we're just leaving the tap in the bathroom dripping at night, if it's going to be cold. We're in a campground with full services and most of the other trailers are skirted in, we're going home in 2 or 3 days so we'll winterize it before we go. Techntrek - that 20 minutes is just the work on the camper, you still also have to find the wrench, get the equipment out, find a few beers to help drown the sorrows out, have a cook out, and then after that put it all away.  I figure a day project :)
 
Take the humor in my post - It is not hard at all and gets easier each time you do it. Just need to be careful of the freezing

Welcome George & Nancy.  When you say the water froze in your bathroom, do you mean in the shower faucet and/or toilet flush system?  Or are you storing jugs of water in the bathroom?  If you still have water in your water system with temps dropping to -8 C it is time to winterize it.  There are ways to get around this - like using heat tape and insulation on the water hose, but keeping the exposed parts underneath the pod from freezing will be much more difficult w/o some major modifications.  A lot easier to winterize it and store your potable water in jugs inside (and then use it outside).  You can use the toilet but use a jug of RV antifreeze as flush "water" to prevent the black tank from freezing up.
 
Click here for a long thread on how to winterize.  It only takes about 20 minutes to do it once you've done it a time or two.

We've been camping in our 2012 176 RPOD since the middle of October. There is about 5 inches of snow now. The coldest it has been is -8 c and the water froze in the bathroom, it didn't take long to thaw out, though. We've noticed a lot of drafts from the slide-out, but other than that it's been very comfortable. Last Winter I used my R-pod alot!  We dry camped in it and also found that it is not fun towing during snow storms.  At one of the Camp Grounds we used We had to leave it and come back for it as We could not get out with the camper.  There were about 10 of us there that had to do that.   I also plan on doing some camping again this winter but time right now is against me.  Your welcome to come over to French Creek in January.

Rex, I fly fished as a young man, then got into Bass boats and cranking gear. Later Ultra light, This past fall I bought myself a 5 weight 4 piece grafite for my 62'nd birthday, and fish Indian creek near my home in southern Indiana, caught some nice small mouth bass, and a mess of goggle eye (rock bass) a gizzilian little sun fish, I am rusty but getting back in the grove, the Fly rod is going in the Pod so when we travel I can slip out and slip into a stream, fresh fished fried up in the pod (or outside) It does not get any better. Mine is winterized but still on the driveway so still plugged in.  Once the ground freezes up I'll move it to its usual storage spot in the backyard.  It has just been so wet all summer and fall that if I tried to move it now the pod and TV would be stuck.

We are lucky here in south fla,I try and go out every weekend.Usually I go over to the lake to visit the grand kids and to do a little fly fishing. Leaving wed to go over for thanksgiving be back home sunday night. Its only a 45 min drive. How many of you will be using your R-Pod in one form or another all year long, over the winter?  For us, ours will be winterized but stay plugged in all winter.  The frig will remain on and in use.  A couple times over the winter, the wife and I will use it for winter camping/sleeping right in the back yard where it sits.
