A 14' gator needs a lot of meat!  One that big could easily eat a man.  Most of them that you see would only be around 10' to 12' at most.   That little guy I posted has to watch out for the big ones or they become a meal.

good grief, if they can eat a deer, even the smaller ones in Florida, they could constrict and kill and eat a human, no walks for me in the Everglades. They would never survive the winter up there.  But some people will be jerks and turn something like that loose.  They would thrive all summer.  Plenty to eat because the animals don't expect a gator to be in the water.

There was a story just last week in the news down here about a python swallowing a deer.   We have a real problem in south FL with them.  People threw them out when they got to big and they are multiplying.  The forest service says that in time they will displace the gator in the everglades.

Thanks!  I might be able to get some ribs etc.  There is a restaurant down around the glades that is kind of famous for there gator ribs.  Or at least there used to be.  These days you don't know from one day till the next who will still be open.  Like I said I can get ribs from LA but that just ain't right!  That is like living in TX and ordering steak from some other state!

That sounds pretty good!  Don't forget the ribs!  Most people here in Florida don't know the ribs are good.  So are the shoulders.  The one meat market where I could get gator ribs just went out of business.   I'll be darned if I'll order them from Louisiana!  That seems to be my only option though.

I grabbed my camera and took a drive in Matanzas State Forest.  It is only a few miles away.  Here is what I saw today.  It was about 3' long is all.  Right in the road!



Here he is heading for the woods.


I look for Eagles, rattle snakes, wild pigs, deer, armadillo and what ever else!
