Good for you Gerald, that is what I plan to do, just cut off a small section, widen the front and rear cuts in the rail and it should be good to go. My beef is nothing was said to me, thankfully the 23 days camping were hot and nights cool so skitters were almost non existant. Have fun at Mikesew, haven't been there since I was 15, that's a pretty old park yuk yuk! Hi Derek, I have been following Paddy Moris on the other forum.
I picked up my trailer Monday night from Campkins and have had many "discussions" them regarding the installation.
 
Following is a comment to Patty I posted on the other forum
Paddy,
Picked up my Pod last night from Campkins. They had phoned me on Saturday and recommended that a hole not be cut behind the rail for the wire as it would cut into the floor and may develope a possible leak. They investigated one of the new pods that they had on their lot and followed how Forest River installed the new lighting. A section of channel was removed the width of the fender. The bug screen is inserted into the grove, comes out of the grove at the fender, around the wire and back into the grove at the back of the fender. I tried it and it works well. I was shown the installation instructions from Forest River and there was no mention of removing this section of channel. As I mentioned before there is no channel in the fender area on the new trailers, too bad Forest River left out this important bit of information on the recall.
Hope this helps anyone else who is about to have the recall done. Other than that I was pleased with the work. By the way, the installation of the spoiler done by Camphins looks a lot better than the ones on the new trailers I saw on the lot.
By the way Paddy, going to be up in your neck of the woods next week camping at Mikisew Provincial Park. Look ing forward to it

I just picked mine up from Campkins and it was installed just like PaddyMorris. I pointed out the problem with the skirt track and I was told this was how the factory told them to install the lights and I should cut the skirt to make it fit.

So got the recall done at Campkins on the 14th, took the R-Pod out to Samuel de Champlain park for three weeks starting last Sunday. While putting up the R-Dome I tried to install the lower bug net and the lights that were put on the trailer fenders have wires that are fastened right over the rail to slide the bug net in. No way to use that bug net now. Now has this happened to others? I think the wire should have been put through a hole in the side of the trailer and down through the floor. Not making the rail useless. I left them a message Sunday, not happy as I was in bug central but have not heard back.  Short of taking part of the rail off on either side of the front and rear wires behing the wheel, spreading it out to slide the rail around the wires there is just no way to use the lower bug screen. Thumbs Down

Well got the job done at Campkins yesterday, took most of the day but it looks nice. The trailer seemed to be smoother on the 300 km trip back to North Bay, maybe the gas consumption was a little better. Have got my appointment at Campkins booked for August 9th. They said it would be a 6 hour job. Below is a post from the other forum where a Quebec dealer performed the upgrade.

Just went for the recall today at the dealer in Marieville, Québec.
 
Everything went well, this is a 4 hours jobs and they put a kind of spoiler at the back (like the new RPod)
and 2 lights on each mudguard. The job was neat and look good. They told me they already made many of them with no problem.
 
I was curious were they would pass the wire for the spoiler and I see the spoiler attach with 3 screws on each side of the roof and on one side the wire goes under a plastic strip who was there before and goes down to the standard  tail light.

Got my recall letter from Forest River last Friday, even so I traded the trailer last fall but it sits on the dealers lot unsold.

I checked the mail today - no recall notice for me yet.  But, I think I'll wait a bit until the spring rush is through before getting mine fixed.  I've got no concern about the quality of Campkins work, but I'm also not concerned about getting the light bar and fender lights installed right away.  Camping season has begun and if there are 2-3 warm, dry days in a row, I'd rather spend my time camping.

My letter came today. A quick call to Campkins showed at least a couple of weeks before they can do anything. I don't think they were expecting this little problem to be dropped in their lap at this time of the year. Gave the service department all my information and they will call in a couple of weeks.

From looking at my spoiler with the LED lights, it looks to be bolted on the regular roof and the edges caulked. I've seen lots of speculation (and participated quite a bit too) concerning, but AFIK, nothing has actually been established yet concerning how effective a spoiler would be.  Certainly, my own computer-generated airflow experiments show the position of the stock spoiler on the most recent r-pods to be in the most effective position.

If you want to run wires down through the roof of the r-pod, the ceiling panels inside must come out.  There are wood braces every 16" or so with insulation packed between.  There's no way you could fish wiring through there.

As far as a LED light bar vs. the spoiler light bar, there may be other factors.  It may be a matter of economy: the spoilers are a stock part and presumably have already passed Transport Canada inspection, so Forest River can begin a replacement program right away.  A LED light bar installed above the window on the curve of the roof may allow an unacceptable amount of light to bleed forward and glow may be seen from the front of the trailer, potentially confusing oncoming motorists.  It may simply be a matter of aim: A standard LED light bar, installed on the curve of the roof, would point toward the horizon; as LEDs give off directional light, there may be an insufficient brightness reaching a trailing motorist.  The spoiler light bar was designed to be mounted on the r-pod's curved roof and point its lights backwards, aimed at a trailing motorist.

You can.  As long as your trailer is legal to haul where you call home, its legal to haul it here.  However, if you live here, you must follow to the rules.

I always assumed that I would be able to tow my R-Pod into Canada!  I live about two hours drive from the border.  I had planned to do some camping up in NW Ontario this summer.  But if my US R-Pod is illegal to haul north of the border, I may have to cancel my plans.
If Forest River won't retro-fit my R-Pod, I guess I will have to spend my own money to correct FR's
DOT deficiency!

Thanks for your update. When I got into work this morning there was a phone message from Susan Thornberg at Forest River. She explained briefly about the recall and asked that I forward my VIN number for verification. Sounds like things are moving. Now we just have to sit and wait.

My dealer here in Regina alone said they've sold about 20 some RPods that will be affected by the recall, and one still on the lot. And we're not a large city. I imagine every major city in Canada has a dealer so it adds up quick.
