Good for you. You are a braver soul than I would be. Please keep us posted on your adventures. There are some F150 Lightnings in the fleet where I work. I've had the opportunity to drive them several times. They are quite nice.

New Rpoder 190 with a F150 Lightning (EV) : Hello! I'm a first time Rpod...

    Author: LightningRpod
Subject: 16288
Posted: 29 Aug 2025 at 3:45pm

Hello! I'm a first time Rpod owner - picked up a 2025 Rpod-190. Love it, looking forward to many adventures.

I'm towing with an F150 Ligtning, which at first was a scary thought - what kind of mileage would I get, how would I charge with a trailer in tow, would I be camping too far away from a charging station, can I get a good charge at a powered campsite?

In my first tow, I noticed the charge lost only about 32% of it's efficiency - instead of 300 miles on a charge, I could get 204 miles. The 190 is perfect for this - narrow, light, and single axel. Larger rigs have been posting terrible inefficiencies.

Towing it is a piece of cake - the EV has so much torque and heft, it's easy to forget the 190 is there. I was in my own mind after an hour and looked in the mirror and thought for a second 'who's riding my tailgate?!' - LOL.

Charging has been easy, too. Most of the new ultra-fast chargers have parking spaces on the opposite side of the normal parking space and I've been able to pull up on the backside with the trailer, and top up in 15-20 minutes. Perfect time for a bathroom break and a snack. I'll post a picture. One time I decided to detach the trailer for a long charge, and to do some work (laptop work) and make a lunch. It was a pleasant stop, and only took 6 minutes to unhook with the electric hitch. The sway bars are the only pain - would love to find a better solution.

I did some campsite testing over the summer for charging to see what kind of results I'd get. It was easy and plentiful - would get a pretty good refill over night. A couple sites had dedicated high speed charging.

NOW - I'm looking for ideas on: any upgrades/additions to make trips easier, and, ideas on what tools/supplies I should always have on the road.
