Wait. Is your fridge 3-way (propane/AC/12V), or just 12V?

The 3-way is an absorption-cycle refrigerator, and has no compressor. 

If it only runs on 12V, then it is probably a compressor/condenser refrigerator like the one in your home.

Our fridge is pretty much silent in all modes, propane, AC, and 12V. It' super efficient and uses less juice than the solar panel produces but it's pretty noisy. There is a lot of vibration. And that means a lot of noise. Too much noise.
