Did you buy your 189 new or used?  To me it does not look like a factory install outlet.  Is the outlet live? You may want to investigate this a little further by looking behind the paneling.  Maybe that would help explain what it is for. Just make sure that it hasn't been added after the fact and short cuts taken. Other than that I don't know and I have no ideas. We have a 179 and nothing in our trailer looks like that outlet, sorry but no help.

 I have this electrical outlet cord, coming out from under the fridge in a 189. Does anyone know what the intended use is?
