Something similar (almost) happened to me with my 2016 172. My rood had developed a leak from the AC unit. Being less a do-it-yourselfer than most, I had a repairman look at it and he showed me how it is "attached" to the roof with basically screws and nuts that tighten it into place from above and below. Mine had rattled loose over time. In my case the a/c itself was damaged and I had to replace it.

After that I checked those now an again to be sure they stayed tight.

I am not sure of the ramification of disconnecting the AC leads in the thermostat operation. But you could just get an inexpensive thermostat for the operation of just the furnace. I own a 2015 20ft POD with one slide which I recently purchased from an individual.

I was coming back from a 700 mile trip and when getting gas I realized my ac unit was sitting sideways.

I went inside the unit and pulled of the inside cover and sure enough it had broken loose, it was being held inplace by the 110 power, that's it.

I happened to be next to a Tractor Supply and purchased a large tie down strap, this got me home.

I decided I am going to take the unit off and put in a skylight, I know I will not use the ac.

I took the 110 power and put it behind the radio unit in a j box and turned off the breaker.

There was some damage to the thermostat wires and the dc cable as well. I cannot seem to get the DC and thermostat wires to talk the thermomsat properly to run the furnce.

The furnace which is under the bed. I plan on taking those wires which were housed in the ac cover and add a J box in the cieling adjacent. I just do not know how to get the furnace running.

All the other DC systems seem to be working ok.

Any advice????
