Are you sure it is the AC? It could be the refrigerator. If the battery was disconnected, it could also be the LP/CO detector. What year is your RPod? If it is 5 years old, the LP/CO detector has reached its end of life and needs to be replaced. If the battery is installed and not run down, it would be beeping periodically regardless of whether plugged in or not.

Look at the lights on the LP/CO detector and see if it is flashing a code that means it is time to replace it.
