That was a tough one. I remember well because we were traveling in frigid weather and could not get any heat. It let enough gas through to light the stove, but whenever the furnace kicked on, the flame on the stove pretty much went out. Anyway, congratulations on a repair done. You can now pass that knowledge on if you encounter someone with the same problem.

Final chapter:
Went to the big box store where I purchased the hose last year and explained the situation. Customer Service said if they had an identical item on the shelf they would make an "even exchange" even though I didn't have my receipt. They did and I got a brand new hose, no charge. They asked to keep my hose and were going to send it back to the manufacturer. Hooray for customer service.

+1 SH I would believe that the hose is not releasing the safety valves on the refillable tanks. Quite likely. There is a strong possibility that the check valve in the acorn nut has gone bad. I had a hose do the same thing. I even tried spraying a little lubricant in there, but it did not help. I also had one of the pigtails that connect the propane hose to the regulator on the trailer go bad. I thought it was the regulator so I replaced that only to find that it did not fix the problem. Now I try to store the hose after turning off the tank valve and letting the stove or whatever is connected burn off the propane in the hose. I don't know if iti helps, but I figure it can't hurt.

Update: Checked for wasps/insects etc. None.
Attached hose to large and small propane tanks separately (the white ones, that are both full). Opened tank valve ever so slowly. Used an alien wrench to depress pin at end of hose, and a strong blast of propane came out but quickly went to a very slow flow. Closed all valves, unhooked, rehooked to white tank(s) then to grill. Opened tank valve ever so slowly. Turned on grill valve and propane flowed quickly and was able to light grill; however within 10 seconds grill flame went out due to very low propane flow.
Unhooked hose, attached small disposable tank (green) and propane flowed and grill lit and stayed lit. Now what..? Time for a new hose?

Last year I bought a new 4ft propane hose, black rubber with brass fittings, from the local big box store. I attach it to a mini propane tank for use on our tabletop grill. It worked fine all of last year and went into storage for the winter (enclosed in a box, capped at small end)
 Tested it today and gas does not flow from small propane tank to grill. Thought maybe the mini tank was empty, so I tried it on a large tank that I knew was full. Same result, no gas going to grill. With both tanks I tried hooking and unhooking hose in all combinations. No luck. Decided to try one of those mini disposable propane bottles. Guess what...gas flowed and grill lit. So it must be the hose, right? Any suggestions?
