Author: StephenH
Subject: 15913
Posted: 03 Jan 2024 at 9:38pm

Congratulations Katelynn and Welcome! I had to look that one up as I had not heard of it before. I hope you have many fun adventures and make many great memories with it.

That being said, there are some other things that are important and that you will find as you explore your R-Pod and this site. First is, what vehicle are you going to be using for towing? Is it suitable in size and tow capacity for the trailer? Remember that frontal area of the trailer is considerable so don't expect to get great mileage. However, if you limit your speed to 60-65 mph, then the mileage hit is not quite as bad. Beside, some places have a towing speed limit that is lower than the general speed limit.

Second is that this is likely not a full four-season trailer. If you are planning full-time living, then you will need to consider how to keep your tanks, water lines, and you from freezing. It is going to brun a lot of propane to keep any trailer warm. They are not as well insulated as a house. Skirting the bottom will help if you are going to be stationary, but if you are traveling, then that is not an option.

Third, the search function on this forum defaults to posts six months old or newer. To research older posts which may contain information you need or want, you will need to use the Advanced Search. Then you can change the date range to get to those older posts.

Last, Expect things to happen. No matter what the size, trailers are a rolling, traveling earthquake. Things will shake loose. Just keep some basic tools on hand so you can fix little problems before they turn into big problems.

Have fun,

Stephen

I’m headed to Texas for a military move. If anyone has any information for a newbie I’m all ears!

I know the RPOD 153 is a fairly new model so it has been difficult to find information.
