I love this forum and the way it works, but the honest truth is, the FB groups.. do it better.


There are a lot of questions asked and answered, maybe not always correct (ok, a fair amount of time there are dubious answers) but still there is a lot of give and take with fellow podders that do their best to be helpful and a blessing to others on that forum.  As far as the rest of FB, I agree with Mark, no interactions with others unless I know them.

I just say "NO" to facebook. I'm not a member, and don't intend to ever join. Just as a note.. FB is what you make of it. I am not "friends" with anyone... I am not friends with. In fact I am not FB friends with anyone I don't know in some way, in real life.

But Jato is correct, the main FB group has, 1) a great moderator crew, they keep the crazy to a very low level.. very low level. and 2) it's a very active group. Hundreds of posts a day.

Of all the inquiries received only a few parts were sent out through this forum, the bulk were as a result of R-Pod facebook, there is a lot more activity on that site.

That works if you have a place to store the old unit. I held on to mine and tried to post on the forum that parts were available. Over the past 3 years I have given away all available parts for free, only charging for shipping costs.  For those of you who have replaced are will be replacing your Dometic fridge in the future, hold on to it!  There are many parts on that unit that can be re-used by others: main board, gas valve, igniter, freezer box, shelves, muffin fans, bi-metal switch, to name only a few. 

Replacement parts on the above items are ridiculously priced by Dometic or other vendors; others who have kept their old worn out units will still find that many of the components are still functional, as was mine, the problem I had was a leak in the system and the ammonia boiled out, however all the components were still in excellent, workable, condition.

Would like to purchase an operating 

main board       P-870

Control panel    mes-4

Ribbon 

I found a post on the forum and a senior member possibly JATO , stated he may have these parts and would sell them. I did not get approved to use the forum and lost the post. I am trying to help a woman repair her RM 8501

The symptoms are no response from the control panel.  

There is 12 volts to the main board.
