I gave up my A1 a decade ago, and don't miss it. The new digital cameras, and even the better phones take fantastic pictures for what most people need/want. I haven't blown anything up to poster size since I was a member of the Army A/V Photo Club in Kitengen FRG 40 years ago...<br>]]>

Much like holding a book instead of an e-reader. I do remember, frequently cursing the weight of my Yashica, and later Pentax K1000 during backpacking trips.]]>

It has not been needed to produce great pictures for years. It just added weight, complexity, and cost to the cameras. I will be interested to see how they make the transition.]]>

Canon and Nikon both have announced they will no longer produce DSLR cameras in favor of producing the less expensive, mirrorless digital cameras. I for one will miss that characteristic clunk of the mirror and shutter. It was satisfying and fulfilling to know another masterpiece was in the works... maybe.]]>
