Also, you cannot convert back to residential from RV once you make the switch. That is being done to protect the residential wait list queue.

So if you are in a congested urban area with other internet choices it's probably better to use one of those at home and just get the mobile Starlink package for travel. You can just turn it off when not travelling.

If like me you live in a rural area with no good alternatives to fixed Starlink then if you want Starlink for RV use too you'll need to buy two subscriptions and two sets of hardware ($1200) and $245 per month at this time. Not doing that.

Here in the DFW area, we'll be without coverage until sometime in 2023 according to the Starlink website. If I wanted to travel to a Starlink-serviced area, I'd have to get the RV plan until then.

And you can turn it on and off. But apparently having no fixed service address deprioritizes it in congested areas relative to the fixed package.

Might be better to buy the [edit: fixed] plan and add on the [edit: portability] package (cost is the same) if you are going to use it continuously at home too like I do. (sorry I had this reversed initially). I wonder if I could get a second dishy, no way I'm going to climb up and take down my antenna for travelling.
Using it at a fixed location currently but interested if anyone here is using one at more than one location.

My current firmware has roaming set to false but the version I had initially had roaming turned on, so it appears to come and go.

I'm getting around 150-200 mbps down, 8 up, with 40-70 msec latency. Downtime negligible so far. Not bad at all for the middle of nowhere. For those unaware the service plan has no data caps and is $110 per month now.
