Garmins are by far the easiest GPS to use; I recommend them. Garmin makes a dedicated RV unit and one has a 10" screen! They are pretty new, so I didn't find and discounts in a quick search. For now maybe you can add avoidance. Hello lostagain. I don't have a specialty GPS, but have you looked at a gps that is designed for semi-trucks? I have seen them before in stores and online. They are a bit more expensive but would keep you off routes that are car only.

Last fall we moved to the East Coast.  As we explore the area we're finding that our Garmin and phone based GPS systems often route us on roads which are restricted to "autos" only.  

Does anyone have a suggestion on navigation applications in which one can filter out roads and routes that won't allow a travel trailer?
