We also have a 179. it sounds like you have the "eyebrow" which is just a semicircle over the door.

We use both the RDome and an awning that we made that slides in the same track as the RDome.

Occasionally you will see Rdomes for sale in the Campers Flea Market section of the forum. We made the awning.

Not exactly sure which forum this would go in? I have a 2017, 179 Hood River Edition and it has a sort of awning that fits into a "groove" (?) and has a couple of poles to keep it out.
