You would need a 3.5kw generator minimum. The water heater element is 1440 watts or about 12A, the a/c is about 15-16 amps.

But why would you? Loaded question. If you have a big enough genny, you can run both, even with h/w set to electric. If you run the h/w on propane, it will require very little electric, so a much smaller wattage is needed. If you have an easy start, you could probably run the a/c and h/w on propane, with a 2000 watt. but it would be tight. You would probably need to turn of the charging side of the converter.
