This is what I want to figure out. My winter project is to build some cabinets over the bed and over the dinette on our 177. Still in the planning stages to see if it is feasable. First have to locate the inside studs and roof rafters. Have not tried the stud finder yet but I doubt if it will work because of the solid insulation. By doing the old fashioned knocking on the wall I have been able to locate the approximate location of the wall studs. The ceiling is a lot easier as the studs seem to be located at the ceiling panel joins. Lots of planning still to do and will publish pictures as I go. I can see the finished project in my mind (looks great and is going to be very practical). Fantastic idea. I am going to keep an eye on my pod. With the frosty mornings now I should be able to see the outlines of the roof rafters and sides.    Its good to know the roof has aluminum rafters. This morning I noticed something I've never noticed before. There was condensation on the sides of the trailer and I noticed a pattern of lines up and down. Then I realized the lines were the outline of the aluminum frame behind the fiberglass. I used a pencil and marked where I was able to see the paterns from the condensation. Should have posted a new topic for this in the first place to get it off the "Gas Mileage" posts. Forest River said that the roof rafters were not in the correct position to screw the spoiler on to and additional rafters would have to be inserted, I wanted to know if the rafters were wood or aluminum? I emailed Forest River and was impressed with their response time.....15 minutes.

Hi Gerald,

The Roof itself is a laminated structure, constructed the same way the walls are, aluminum.  The radius portion of the front/back walls have wood rafters.
