Author: dasbryant
Subject: 14587
Posted: 25 Apr 2021 at 11:08am

I just pulled off the RV-grade cover off of our 2020 R-pod 196 and I noticed that the factory caulk that seals the vinyl roof sheet to the front sheet that curves down the front of the vehicle has separated. It's almost as if the vinyl roof sheet shrunk about 1'4" and pulled away from the caulk for approximately 24". The sides and back all appear to be OK, as well as the caulk around all the roof vents, AC, etc.
I can see what appears to be plywood? or particle board? under the vinyl roof sheet where it pulled away.

Hopefully since it was covered all winter, it wasn't exposed to too much water and hasn't started to rot the sub-roof material.

I could go re-caulk it myself, but I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and have them take a look. We bought the full warranty, so the fix will be on their dime. I assume the roof material under the vinyl needs to dry out before re-caulking. Until I get it in, I'll keep an eye on the weather. If it looks like rain, I'll put a sheet of plastic over the separation to protect it.

Anyone else had this happen before, and if so, was it serious enough to require major roof repairs?

Thanks
