    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=418" rel="nofollow">Outbound</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1456<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 16 Oct 2010 at 12:19pm<br /><br />In early June, I received a recall notice concerning the transmission in my 2008 Tribute. &nbsp;I was told that a &nbsp;crack could form at the transmission cooler where the lines attach. &nbsp;Sure enough, mine had developed a very, very, very minor leak. &nbsp;It took the dealer about 90 minutes to drain the tranny fluid, replace the parts, refill and send me on my way.<div><br></div><div>If this had gone further, it could have caused cooling problems and failures. &nbsp;Fortunately for me, the recall notice came before any damage occurred (or even a mess on the garage floor).</div><div><br></div><div>I have been content using my Tribute as a tow vehicle and plan to continue using it. &nbsp;I certainly have no specific complaints about the transmission. &nbsp;Yes, more power would be nice; but based on my experience towing my r-pod over the past two camping seasons, the vehicle does just fine.</div>]]>

It could of been a bad seal , bearing or something. There may be a recall and a redesign of a part could fix the problem. My own personal feeling is a front wheel drive is not as reliable as a rear wheel drive for towing that was the reason we changed tow vehicles from a Saturn Vue&nbsp;FWD to a Jeep Liberty&nbsp;RWD. I could be wrong and front wheel drives are fine. The engineers who design them say&nbsp;they can tow the capacities there given, maybe I didn"t have enough faith.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; David and Danette]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=2" rel="nofollow">Guests</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1456<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 10 Oct 2010 at 11:51am<br /><br /><P>Wow...sorry to hear about your problems!&nbsp; I second what Runnebane writes.&nbsp; I do feel your pain however, as last year (11-09) I traded in my PAID for 2008 GMC Canyon with 13,000 miles, as it just wasn't up to the task of towing.&nbsp; While I was not having problems with it, I've been tinkering around cars long enough to know that it wasn't going to live long, as hard as it was having to work.</P><DIV>On the up side, I think vehicle sales are still kind of slow and you may benefit from this.&nbsp; But, it will still hurt! <img src="http://www.rpod-owners.com/smileys/smiley19.gif" height="18" width="18" border="0" alt="Cry" title="Cry" /></DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=596" rel="nofollow">peachpod</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1456<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 10 Oct 2010 at 9:58am<br /><br /><P>FYI:&nbsp; I'm currently towing with a 2010 Escape, and I just had work done on the transmission - with less than 16,000 miles on the car - I'M NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!&nbsp; The front drive axle had to be removed and the following parts had to be replaced:&nbsp; a bushing, multiple supercessions(?), shaft-front axle, and differential oil seal.&nbsp;&nbsp; This problem did not happen while towing.&nbsp; I found fluid dripping on my garage floor, and took it in, thinking it was a loose oil filter or oil pan plug, since I'd just had it in for an oil change the week before.</P><P>The service guy said they've been getting service alerts on the Escapes for this problem - great..... </P><P>I'm towing within my limits, both weight of trailer and hitch weight.&nbsp; Apparently, the Escape isn't up to the job.&nbsp; Escapes that don't tow are even having this problem.&nbsp; Grrrrrrr.......</P><DIV></DIV><DIV></DIV>Google Ford Escape+transmission problems and quite a few links will come up. <img src="https://www.rpod-owners.com/smileys/smiley7.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" alt="Angry" title="Angry" /> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Looks like I may be searching for a new tow vehicle and take a beating on my trade in...<img src="http://www.rpodnati&#111;n.com/smileys/smiley19.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" alt="Cry" title="Cry" /></DIV>]]>
