If it is the push button type, our lens cap just twists off.  There are little tabs inside the lens cover that keep it in place within the fixture, which has three places cut out of the ring to let the lens come off.  If you pull on the light, you risk pulling the screws out of the walls or ceiling. I found that putting a piece of masking tape on the plastic to serve as a pull tab works just fine. Pushing up on the plastic lens or squeezing it makes removal more difficult. In our 2015 179, the sides must be squeezed and then the entire cover slid away from the center. Initially, I squeezed the sides and used a flat blade screwdriver between the lens and the center section to pry them apart gently.

I'd be worried about several things with heating them, most especially warping or discoloring them. I have a 2016 so I bet they're the same. I spread my fingers and grab the whole cover. While squeezing in, I turn the cover to get the notches into their slots. Once you get one down and get a look at it, it will become clear. Maybe start with an out of the way one to alleviate the anxiety about breaking. This is a little helpful

Difficult I reckon!  I’m going to try heating them with a hairdryer.

I purchased my 2015 rPod 178 slightly used and it didn’t have an owners manual.  So does anyone know the technique for removing the cover on the inside lights?  It’s not apparent to me how they’re removed and I don’t want to crack or break them.
